Easy Spring Cleaning Tips

Yep, it’s that time of year again! After a long Winter, it’s time to refresh your home and let some clean air in. Try and take it room by room and work your way throughout the entire house.

Start with the outside. While it may not be the first things that comes to mind, your door mats can trap a lot of dirt that can be brought into your home. Try using two mats, one inside and one outside of your door. To refresh your original mats vacuum indoor ones and hose off exterior mats.

Wash your windows. Clean the windows with glass cleaner and dust the blinds and shades.

Deep clean your fridge. Can’t remember the last time you’ve done this? Yep, that means its time. Wiping down the outside is helpful in reducing bacteria spread but don’t forget about the inside. Take out the shelves and bin and wash in warm, soapy water to get rid of food bacteria/

Clean the oven. Self-cleaning to the rescue! Remove stubborn, baked on grime from all of those holiday pies!

Wash your shower curtain. Throw plastic or vinyl curtains in your washing machine on the gentle cycle then hang to dry. Try spritzing with bleach cleaner a few times a month to make the curtain cleaner longer.

Deep clean furniture. Move furniture away from walls and vacuum behind and under it. Use an upholstery tool to go over your cushions and underneath them. Keep the lost change in between the cushions!

Dust off ceiling fans. Can’t reach up there? Get an extendable duster and go to town on ceiling fans, hanging and recessed lighting, moldings and more.

Sanitize toys. Use the quick cycle and skip the heated dry on your dishwasher to clean your kid’s plastic toys. Check care tags and throw stuffed animals in the washer on the gentle cycle.

Get everything under the sheets. Spring is the perfect time to clean your mattress. Use your vacuum’s upholstery tools to clean the top and sides. Sanitize with a spray like Lysol. Steaming can also help kill dust mites that linger near the surface.

Clean your washing machine. Don’t let odors be your first indication to clean your washing machine. Use the cleaning cycle with bleach or washing machine cleaner to keep your machine and clothes fresh.
