5 Tips for Fall Home Maintenance

Sep 26th 2022

With Summer winding down, there’s no better time to think about those Fall home improvement projects! We’ve rounded up our top 5 tips for getting your home ready for Fall and prepare for Winter. Consider this everything you need to know before your house transitions from hot summer days to cool fall nights...and eventually freezing temperatures!

1.Inspect your roof

Nobody wants water damage, especially as the temperature drops. Make sure there are no missing shingles or damage to the roofing materials to prevent water damage. Be sure to remove the leaves, debris, and mold that have built up in your gutters and on your roof.

2. Seal Windows & Doors

Keep the cold drafts out! Check and replace the weather stripping and caulking around your windows and doors.

3. Schedule a Furnace Check

When was the last time you had your furnace checked? Make sure your HVAC unit is in top condition before the cold weather hits with an appointment from your local HVAC contractor.

4. Clean out your Dryer Vent & Lint Trap

Did you know dryer vents are a major cause of residential fires each year? Don’t let this happen to your home. By regularly vacuuming the lint and dust particles from inside the dryer, trap, an vent, you can help keep your home safe.

5. Change Your Filters

Don’t want to see any increases in your heating bill? Check to make sure your air filters are clean. Having clogged air filters could be adding unwanted costs to your heating bill and could be the reason for not being able to manage the temperatures in your home.
